  • Technical Visit

    Technical Visit

    A Technical Visit was organized by Department of Construction Technology Management & Highway Technology on Thursday, 13th April 2017 under the co-ordination of Mr. Sandesh N U and Mr. Pramod B V., Assistant Professor, Department of CTM & HT. This technical visit was done to provide industrial exposure for current 6th SEM UG students (2014-2018 batch). The construction site was located at Krishna Lila theme park, Vasanthapura, Bangalore.

    Senior Engineer Mr. Basavaraju and Safety officer Mr. Gajanan Nayak has explained on the following activities of construction:

    Foundation work of isolated footing, Reinforcement details, Concreting work, Field test (Quality check), Flat Slab, safety aspects etc.

    Our Department would like to thank Ashok design build Pvt. Ltd., West of chord road, Mahalakshmipuram, Bangalore for providing an opportunity for the site visit.

     

    Technical Visit to Construction Site & Ready-Mix Concrete Batching Plant

    The site visit was organized on 22nd September, 2018 under the supervision of Prof.Pramod B V and Prof. Nagarjuna Gowda BS, Assistant Professors, Department of Construction Technology and Management, DSCE to the location of the newly undergoing construction site atDayananda SagarUniversity which is located near Haroalli, Kanakapur Road.The total site area is about 120 acres. Participants were the students of 3rd Semester, Department of CTM & HT, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore.

    Department of Construction Technology & Management & Highway Technology had organized a One-day technical workshop on “SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTIONS & ROLE OF CTM IN PRESENT CONSTRUCTION SCENARIO” on Monday, September 17, 2018.

    Diegeo NDTV program on Road safety

    NDTV organised a national level road safety event “Road to Safety” in association with DIAGIO.PVT.LTD from 22nd April to 28th Spril. In Bangalore, this event was conducted in DSCE campus in association with Department of CTM and HT on 25th April 2018. This event was inaugurated by Mr Charu Sharma, Former International Cricketer and Mr Prasad Bidappa, Fashion designer and Choreographer. The Complete event hosted live in NDTV by Press Reporter Maya Sharma. Students of CTM and HT department actively participated in this event by completing a 2.7km walkathon on 25th April 2018.

    Site Visit to Brigade Orchards-Devanahalli

    One-day Workshop and site visit has been arranged to the student of final year CTM on 7th April, 2018 to precast construction site at precast plant Brigade Orchards, Devanahalli, Bengaluru.

    The project is a township project spread across 130acres of land. Consisting of villas, residential apartments and club house. The project is handled by BCV Developers Pvt. Ltd which is a joint venture of Brigade group with Classic and Val mark groups. This site visit concentrated on the precast construction process undergoing in the site.

    The students were basically exposed to major two aspects of precast construction i.e precast panel construction and erection of precast segments in the site.

    In the casting yard, students were exposed to preparation of moulds for the segments, reinforcement detailing and laying, MEP services in the segments, concreting process, demoulding and transportation of segments to the site. In the site, erection of segments, joining methodology, grouting and finishing works were observed. Also the latest construction equipment was made familiar. 

    In the afternoon, Mr. Ganapathi M G, VP-Precast at BCV Developers Pvt Ltd. addressed the students and shared his knowledge and expertise in the field of precast construction.

    The site visit was very helpful for the students of CTM to learn and observe the upcoming technology-precast construction

    As a part of Social awareness program, Department of Construction Technology Management and Highway Technology, Dayananda Sagar college of Engineering had organised "Swachh Bharat" Program on 19th January, 2018. at Government Higher Primary School, Bangarappa Nagar, Rajarajeshwari Nagar ward, Bengaluru.Smt. Nalini Manju, Corporator, RR Nagar ward and Sri. Manju, former corpoator, RR Nagar ward were the chief guests for the program. Dr. CPS Prakash, Principal, DSCE, Dr. P Prakash, HOD-CTM, DSCE and Smt. Padma, Head Mistress, Govt. Higher Primary school Bangarappa Nagar were present during the occasion"

  • Open Day Project Exhibition - 2017:

    Open Day Project Exhibition - 2017 :

    Department of CTM had organized The Final Year Project Exhibition, Open Day an initiation by the Dayananda Sagar college of Engineering, on 30/05/17 from 9am onwards. On this day, UG 8th semester students showcased their final year project through poster and banner presentation. This event was an excellent platform for the students to express their presentation skill with their project and to motivate students to excel in their final project presentation. In total there were 15 group projects from 8th semester involved in this exhibition and presented their technical projects. Students had focused their project-work on various branches of Construction Technology and Management such as Concrete Technology, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Highway and Transportation engineering

    To evaluate the projects, resource person from the Construction industry Mr. B V Nagesh, Principal Structural Consultant M/S Nagesh Consultants has been invited. Mr. B V Nagesh is a Founder and Principal consultant at M/S Nagesh Consultants, has more than 30 years of experience in the designing the residential as well as infrastructure projects. Currently he is leads a team of experienced and young professionals involved in the Structural Engineering Consultancy for – High Rise apartment Buildings, Industrial Buildings, Commercial Buildings, Flyovers and Underpasses.

  • TECHNICAL VISIT REPORT

    TECHNICAL VISIT REPORT:

    Department of CTM & HT had organized a one day technical visit to JYOTHI CONMIX (Ready Mix Concrete Plant) located at Kumbalgudu, Bangalore (roughly around 25 KM from DSCE Campus) on 13.04.2017 for IV semester UG – CTM (2015 batch) students under the guidance of Prof. Karthik M and Prof. K Pramod as coordinators for the visit. Around 52 students along with two faculties had visited the RMC Plant.

    Since, the curriculum has course on Concrete Technology and Concrete Lab together (in IV Semester), this visit to the RMC plant all three as a cluster of these (Course, Lab, Visit) gave an immense experience for the students to get an practical awareness about the importance of concrete as a material in construction industry, how it is handled, production process and many other technical aspects (Quality, Marketing Strategy etc.) related to the same

    Henceforth, we the entire team of IV semester students (2015 batch) along with faculty coordinators would like to thank Mr.Rakesh (Managing Director – JYOTHI CONMIX), entire JYOTHI CONMIX team and college for permitting us for this visit.

    SOCIAL ACTIVITY REPORT

    Department of CTM & HT had organized a one day event of conducting a social activity (service). A visit to JANASEVA ASHRAM (Orphanage and Old age home) located on Kanakapura Road, Bangalore (roughly around 12 KM from DSCE Campus) on 13.04.2017. Our IV semester UG – CTM (2015 batch) students under the guidance of Prof. Karthik M and Prof. K Pramod as coordinators had participated in this event. Around 52 students along with two faculties had visited the same

    Since, that apart the routine curriculum this visit gave an insight to the student feternity to understand the value of life and also the importance of Parents/ Guardians.

    Henceforth, we the entire team of IV semester students (2015 batch) along with faculty coordinators would like to thank Mr.Ravichandran (Incharge of JANA SEVA Ashram) & team and college for permitting us for this visit.

    Technical Seminar on Perpetual pavement for sustainable development & Low Volume roads

    With a vision of attaining Industry Institute Interaction for PG students of Department of CTM and Highway Technology had organized a Technical Seminar on 12th April 2017 at Department Seminar Hall. This was organized in association with Strategic Marketing and Research Team (Channel partner of J. Rettenmaier & Sohne, Germany). Resource persons from the said organization and Speakers of the day Mr. Kishore Kumar (Pavement Design Engineer) and Ms. B S Sandhya (Technical Engineer) delivered talks on following topics. • Perpetual pavement for sustainable development. • Low Volume roads. • Future roles and responsibilities of highway engineers. • Experience on Stone Matrix asphalt in India.

    The target audience for the talk were the PG students (M.Tech in Highway Technology) and pre - final year UG students. The talk was student centric and well appreciated by students. The students also got a way in for taking up internships and research works supposed to be taken up during their upcoming semester.

    The department conveys gratitude to the coordinators Mr. Shiva Prasad N, Assistant Professor and Dr. Anjana S, Associate Professor, for making the event possible for the benefit of the students

    A Two day Traffic Awareness Campaign and Workshop on “A Systems Approach to Traffic Safety” (ASATS 2017) on 7th and 8th April 2017

    The Department of Construction Technology Management & Highway Technology, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering conducted a two day Awareness Campaign and Work Shop on “A Systems Approach to Traffic Safety” (ASATS 2017) on 7th and 8th April 2017 at DSCE Campus. This was the first-of-a-kind event that was being held by the Department and Institute. On 7th April, three events were conducted in and around college campus, mainly to create awareness among the road users on various road safety issues. The events were flagged-off by Sri G. A. Jagadeesh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic Division, Bengaluru North, who was the chief guest for the event. He was accompanied by Mr. Kirik Keerthi of Bigg Boss fame, who is also an actor, anchor and social activist.

    A flash mob was arranged to capture attention of people followed by a mime that portrays the role of the entire system of pedestrians, drivers, engineers, traffic police, emergency care units & other organizations to create a safer road environment. This was followed by safety campaigning in the form of a rally around DSCE campus and assistance to the traffic police in regulating traffic.

    On 8th April, a workshop was organized by the department and Dr. Girish Chandra Y P, Professor, M S Ramaiah Medical College & Hospitals gave an expert lecture on traffic accidents, causes and prevention. He addressed the gathering with his own experiences with accident case victims. The program is conducted as part of the Departments efforts to create student-centric activities that allows them to reach out to the community and render their services as responsible engineers.

    The events were featured in Fever 101 FM, Dighvijay news channel and Vijay Karnataka. The events were sponsored by De Concept and RGI Consultants. The events were co-ordinated by Dr. Anjana, Mr. Sachin Vijayakumar, Mr. Pramod B.V and staff and students of Construction Technology Management & Highway Technology department, DSCE.

    ONE DAY GUEST LECTURE ON PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    The Department of CTM and Highway Technology, DSCE, conducted a one day workshop on 'PROJECT MANAGEMENT' on March 04, 2017.

    A very informative and interesting two hour session had been conducted by Mr Prasanna Kumar , Synergy School of Business and Construction. He'd been a sport and kindly brought out the project management concept which is a crucial concept to be acknowledged by the students of Construction technology and Management. Process grouping is something the student needed to be aware about and he explained in depth about the initiation, planning and controlling process. It was an interactive session where the students showed their interests in the topics being discussed on dais and the involvement was very enthusiastic

    The students were inspired by the information of monitoring and controlling on hand and acquired the knowledge areas of controlling and management. They even imbibed knowledge about project management tool courses and made the students to identify their respective areas of interest and how to pursue them ahead. He even brought out the new enterprise project structure which seemed to enthrall the students. The students were obliged to him by the knowledge the gained from the session and we're very thankful for the knowledge they gained as they were a few guidelines they needed to clear their grey areas. It was one amongst the best sessions conducted in the department of Construction technology.

    Workshop on 'ADVANCES IN CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY (ACT - 2016)':

    The Department of CTM and Highway Technology, DSCE, conducted a one day workshop on 'Advances in Construction Technology (ACT -2016)' on 29th September, 2016.

    Two technical talks on “Tall Structures” and “Metro Station Tunnelling Practices” were presented by eminent resource persons in the respective fields. Participants included academicians, Engineers, Administrators, Researchers, Faculties and Students.

    The workshop started with welcome address by Dr. Anjana S. from the Department of CTM & HT. She welcomed the invited guests and dignitaries and briefly introduced the theme of the workshop and activities of the Department.

    Dr. C.P.S. Prakash, Principal, DSCE, emphasised the role of such invited lectures and workshops on the overall academic development of students. He motivated them to pursue higher learning and research activates for reaching greater heights in their career. The inaugural session also witnessed the blessed event of honoring the Principal, Dr.C.P.S. Prakash, and Dr. H Narasimha Murthy, Professor in Department of Mathematics, for their invaluable and selfless contribution to academics and our institution. The department also honored the VTU rank holders and the achievers of each semester on this solemn occasion.
