The event featured Dr. Kepa Mendibil, the Associate Dean from the Department of Design Manufacturing and Engineering Management at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Dr. Mendibil discussed the significance of higher education, leveraging online job platforms, university career services, and the diverse international communities in the UK to launch & build successful careers.     TorqX The 10th edition of Torq-A Mechanical Engineering Extravaganza was held from 3rd to 5th June 2022. The event was inaugurated by Dr. C.P.S. Prakash, Principal, DSCE. As part of the annual event Design workshop on Fusion 360 was held in association with Autodesk. The workshop was followed by a Design competition called ‘DESIGN IT’.

    DayanandaSagar College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering had conducted a Guest Lecturer on “An Engineer to Successful Entrepreneur” by Mr T N Pradeep Kumar Naidu, Chief Technical Officer from NIKIT Engineers for 6th semester students on 10th of May 2022.

    Mr. T N Pradeep Kumar Naidu is a basically Mechanical Engineer from Visvesvaraya Technological University and he is heading research department in NIKIT engineers. He had constantly working on Automation in welding technology for 8 years and succeeded in developing a own seven axis welding machine which is completed automated. He had given complete information from an Engineer to Successful Entrepreneur to 6th semester mechanical engineering students.

    The workshop was conducted byMr. Vivek Kumar Singh, is an alumni of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. Presently he is pursuing his PhD at IIT Bombay. He introduced many applications and advantages of 3D Printing technology. Also, he thrown the spotlight on the topics, Laser Beam 3D Printing, Electron Beam 3D Printing, Arc based 3D Printing, and Sheet Lamination of metal based 3D printing processes.

    Industry Visit to SANSERA ENGINEERING LTD

    The Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE, organized a one-day industrial visit under the guidance of Dr. Manjunatha B T, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, for UG students to SANSERA Engineering Ltd, Bangalore, on 6th May 2022.

    The SANSERA Engineering Ltd. was established in 1981 in Bengaluru and commenced commercial production of passenger vehicle components in 1986. The company grew its precision components manufacturing business organically in India by commencing supplies to the two-wheeler vertical in 1996, for off-road vehicles in 2009, and to the light commercial vehicle vertical in 2011. The SANSERA Engineering Ltd. had set up a manufacturing facility dedicated to high precision aluminium and titanium machined aerospace components in 2013. Plant 11 of SANSERA Engineering Ltd. near Bidadi manufactures Forged alloy of aluminium and Engine parts like Connecting Rod, Rocker Arms, Finger Followers, Connecting Rod, Suspension / Steering Parts, and Step Holders.

    Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE organised the three days workshop on “Lean Six Sigma (6σ) Green Belt” in association with Gorur Consultancy, Bangalore from 5th to 7th April 2022.

    The workshop was conducted by Mr. G.N. Sridhar, Quality Consultant, Gorur Consultancy, and he started off by explaining how lack of quality plays a vital role in a downfall of the company with many case studies. In these three days of workshop students had undergone regress training on importance and methods of Lean Six Sigma adoption in any industries.

    The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been awarded a research grant of Rs.15 lakhs by VTU under VTU Research Grant Scheme-2021 for the academic year 2021-22 on the project "Development of Sustainable Technology for Recycling and Reprinting of 3D Printed Plastic Waste". This will allow us to expand the research capabilities of our existing 3D Printing Laboratory while also strengthening our expertise.

    Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Ferrous and Non Ferrous Metallurgicals (FENFE), Bengaluru, and the signing ceremony was held on 12th October 2021.

    FENFE recognizes the significance of the Principle of DAYANANDA SAGAR COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING-BENGALURU initiative to be the leader in the field of Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Technology related academia in the country. FENFE offers to render assistance for successful completion of projects of eighth semester engineering students and Post graduate students in Engineering in its premises. It also offers to provide assistance in terms of sponsoring Seminars/Workshops/Guest Lectures on mutually agreed and mutually beneficial topics of importance in the fields of Mechanical Engineering/Foundry Science and Engineering.

    Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE organised the five days Faculty Development Program on “Applications of 3D Printing Technology in Engineering Education” from 20th to 24th September 2021 in virtual mode. The FDP was sponsored by AICTE Training And Learning (ATAL) Academy. Focus of the FDP was integrating 3D Printing Technology in Engineering Education.

    On 20/09/2021, the FDP was inaugurated virtually, the Welcome Address was given by Smt. Mamta Rani Agarwal, Adviser-I, ATAL Academy. This was followed by Address by Prof. Rajive Kumar, Guest of Honor, Member Secretary, AICTE. Then Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal, Chief Guest, VC, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur addressed the audience. Whereas Dr. Amit Dutta, Deputy Director, ATAL Academy, proposed the Vote of thanks.
