    Milana Series which is a alumni interaction hosted/organized by the Dept. of Management Studies of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering held its 4th edition on 27th December, 2021.

    The speaker of the day was Mr. Ganesh Rao, an alumnus from the batch of 2014-16 who is currently working as a Digitalization Strategy and Product Development Executive, Danzas DHL in Dubai. He holds MBA Specialization in HR and Marketing and holds MSc in Logistics & Supply Chain Management with Lean Six Sigma Having over 5 years of industry experience, he not only has expertise in Supply Chain and Logistics management, he also has worked in the field of marketing and sales. He interacted with the students on aspects regarding the field of Marketing, sales, Supply Chain and Logistics Management. He started the interaction by sharing his experience at Dept. of Management Studies, DSCE. He spoke how the college helped him to find his footing in the initial days and all the pleasant memories he had at the college. He later went on to share his experience in starting his career in the field of sales and marketing. He spoke about the challenges he personally faced in the initial days of his job, and he provided wonderful insights on how to overcome the situations he faced so that the students can find solutions to the same situations if they face in the future. He not only provided wonderful and necessary suggestions to students of Marketing and HR specialization, but also provided suggestions to students from other specializations. He later went on to speaking about different experience he had while working for different companies. He then spoke about the motivation he got to pursue MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with Lean Six sigma from Heriot-Watt University. He shared his experience in pursuing his studies again after working for a while and how it impacted his understanding in the field of SCM and Logistics. He also informed the students about the crucial difference between Supply Chain Management and Logistics. He then spoke about his job at Danzas DHL, Dubai. HE shared insights on what his work entails and how he implements or handles the work. He also shared a small presentation about Danzas DHL, the presentation had information about the operations of DHL, career opportunities with DHL, the procedures of the operations of DHL, etc. Mr. Ganesh provided insights on the strategic advantages the DHL has in each country and he also mentioned that DHL is the only organization or company that is present all over the world. As he came to the end of the presentation, he was joined by his Programme Manager at Danzas DHL, Mr. Agneya Mahendra, he has over 20 years of industry experience in the field of operations and he has also worked with various organizations like Agility, Hellmann logistics, Gulf agency company etc. He assisted Mr. Ganesh in providing insights about DHL and opportunities with them.

    The session was later opened for a Q & A session where students asked question to the speakers related to the problems caused to SCM and Logistics companies during Covid-19 period, softwares used to visualize the data, procedures to obtain the data. The questions were answered by both Mr. Ganesh and Mr. Agneya was complete satisfaction with no further clarification seeked by the students, the session came to an end.

    Overall, the session was really informative and valuable to the students.

    The speaker of the day was Ms. Sreelekha Rakesha, an alumnus from the batch of 2012-14 . She has worked as an Associate Consultant at Career Net Technologies, HR Executive at Schneider Electric and is currently working as Associate Director at Novatech Robotics Pvt. Ltd. The interaction started with greetings and introduction. She has elaborately talked about her journey and has recount the benefits of her journey. She shared her experience in the corporate world. She has suggested certification courses which will help students to upgrade themselves. She brought into notice about women entrepreneurship and have given some insightful tips which will help students to excel in their career path. The session came to an end with students asking questions relating to the subject and field of HR and Entrepreneurs and the speaker efficiently answered all the questions to the satisfactory level. The students had a good interaction with her in clarifying their queries.

    The speaker of the day was Mr. Sachin Shivakalimath, an alumnus from the batch of 2011-13 who is currently working as a Data Scientist at Dell. Having over 7 years of industry experience, he interacted with the students on aspects regarding the field of Data Science/Data Analytics. He started the interaction by explaining what data sciences/data analytics is all about and what are the key requirements of the field. He provided insights on how each industry has its own usages from the data sciences, and the understandings of the tools that are in demand in the real world. Along with these he gave also suggestions to MBA students of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering on the skills set they have to know before they start their career in the data science field. He also shared his experience in the field and how he started his career in the field and how it panned out to his interests. He went on the speak about the basic data analysis tools that each and every student must know irrespective of the degree subjects. He also made points on how communication plays a major role in this field and the importance of it.

    The session came to an end with students asking questions relating to the subject and field of Data Science and the speaker efficiently answered all the questions to the satisfactory level. The students gained a lot of clarity and knowledge through this session and their doubts about the field they could opt got a clear picture.

    The speaker of the day was Mr. Rajdeep Ghosh, an alumnus from the batch of 2007-09. He is currently working with Observe.AI as a Senior Manager-Sales Operations. He gave insights to the attendees as to what is success and what are the different steps to be followed to get success.

    He also provided the details about his life experience and shared one of the time phase where he failed and then raised towards the gate of success. His steps included fail, acknowledge, analyze and then improve. He also mentioned you would get better as you improve in your life.

    The speaker of the day was Ms. Sangeetha M.R, an alumnus from the batch of 2013-15. She is currently working as a Auditor at Grant Thornton Dutch Caribbean and is also currently pursuing CPA course. She gave insights to the attendees as to what is finance and what are the different types of segregation found under finance. She explain about the auditing process and also provided details about GAAP, Ind AS and IFRS, the difference among them, what are they, where are they used in, etc. She shared her experiences after joining Grant Thornton. She spoke about her journey of becoming the auditor. She also stressed on how important basics of accounting is and how it helped her to simplify her work. She also mentioned about how different it is to study and how it is to apply them in the real world.

    The event was conducted on 11th July 2020. It was the fourth edition of Milana series. The event began at 11am and ended around 12.50pm with 86 attendees. The principal of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering Dr. C.P.S. Prakash joined the session along with the faculty members and attendees. The topics discussed were mostly on HR related functions, corporate life experience, scope, and tips to face an interview with an interesting talk with Mr. Ganesh Lakkur about the life philosophy and improvement. The session ended with ideas and insights on how to tackle the current situation in regards with employment.

    First & Third semester MBA students of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Department of management studies were provided with an opportunity to interact with the alumni of the college Mr. Sai Prasanna, student of the first batch (2006-2008) of MBA department.

    Speaker Mr. Sai Prasanna had an immense experience about the corporate life and the students were fortunate enough to be able to learn and gain the knowledge about the same.

    The Head of the department Dr. Hemalatha K G Madam welcomed the Alumni with a bouquet and then handed over the floor to the alumni to interact with the students. He asked the students to open up and make the life in the college more vibrant. Speaker stressed on the importance of reading more of the magazines, newspapers etc. to get updated with the day to day activities Speaker also stressed on listening to podcasts, audio books etc. to enhance our knowledge as well as it helps in our listening skills. He suggested us read books about the Donald Trump, depicting his journey from a business tycoon to a president of a nation.

    Speaker also told the importance of communication. We learnt that communication is involved in all walks of life and thus communication should be precise, to the point and also accurate so as to avoid conflicts.

    He emphasized on the importance of networking and suggested to build the strong network, so that it helps us to get the placements as well as internships. He concluded by saying build the habit of reading, listening and build a strong network around you.

    Lessons Learnt

    • Importance of reading, listening and building a strong network.
    • We need to open up to have a successful and a vibrant atmosphere.
    • No book can give you lessons of success but it is we who have learn and move ahead.
