Open Day Project Exhibition-2018
Final Year students exhibited their novel project works in the department on 21st May 2018. Students were highly benefitted by the inputs and suggestions by the external expert Ms. Vimala Narayanan scientist ‘G’ & Technical Director, GTRE (DRDO).
Inauguration of MIG-21 : Jet Engine
IAF has allotted a Gas Turbine Engine (with after burner) to the Department of Aero. Engg, educational purpose for the students. The Jet Engine was inaugurated by The Secretory Shri. Galiswamy and the Principal Dr. C P S Prakash on 21st May 2018.
The Department staff and the students celebrated Farewellday on 27th April for the final year students.2014 batch.
Students of pre-final year got benefitted with the interaction of EduCAAD organization on 12th April 2018. The interaction was about learning the computer tools related to aeronautical engineering and necessities in getting placement in Industry.
Students of pre-final year got benefitted by the interaction of GOODWILL GATE2IIT organization on 11th April 2018. The interaction was related to preparation for the GATE entrance exams, and also highlighted their achievements through effective teaching in securing good GATE ranks.
Department staff and students celebrated ETHNIC DAY on 3rd April 2018, by wearing ethnic dresses representing their culture and heritage.
Alumni Meet 2018
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering has arranged an Alumni meet on 24th March 2018. About 18 alumni have participated in the event. Dr CPS Prakash, Principal, DSCE inaugurated the program and addressed the alumni. The alumni interacted with the staff and the junior students of the department and shared their experience.
SAE Aero-design west 2018 Competition, USA
The students team of ARCIS, DSCE indigenously designed and built an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to carry a maximum payload weight of up to 12Kg and also satisfying the performance specification stipulated by SAE, USA. The team will be participating in the SAE Aero-design west competition in regular class as well as in micro class to be held in California, USA during April 2018
Industrial Visit to National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL, CSIR)
The Department has arranged an industrial visit to National Aerospace Laboratory, Bangalore for 6th semester students on 15th and 16th of Feb. 2018 and they got exposure to various facilities and infrastructure. The Students also got benefited by improving their knowledge on Industrial approach to research and fabrication.
Aero Modeling Event- IIT Madras
Two teams of total seven students participated in Aero Modeling Competition “Shaastra-2018”, event organized by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras on 5th Jan. 2018. The participation encouraged the students to prepare for the next level of competition.
Boeing Aero Modeling Competition- IIT Bombay
A team of total four students participated in Boeing Aero Modeling Competition organized by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on 5th Jan. 2018. An industry supported event, motivates the students to improve their Aeronautical engineering skills.
Women’s Day Celebrations
Introductory Talk on FAA certification, USA:
Ms. Deepti Jain representative of Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Virginia, USA visited the department and gave a talk on FAA Certification issued by USA on maintenance of various types aircraft to the pre-final year and final year students on 18th Sept. 2017.
Orientation program - B.E – 2017 batch:
Department has Conducted an Orientation program for B.E – 2017 batch freshers, on 2nd August 2017, about the academic activities, co-curricular and the extra-curricular activities of the department.
. Women’s day celebration:
Women’s day is celebrated by the students and the faculties of Aeronautical Engineering Department on 8th March, 2017.
AERO INDIA Air-show 2017:
Department has arranged free passes to witness the “AERO INDIA – AIRSHOW 2017” for 220 students and the staff , at Yalahanka Air-force base, Bengaluru on 17th Feb. 2017.
Award to Staff
Dr.R Rajendran Professor Department of Aeronautical Engineering, DSCE has received “Best Teacher in Aeronautical Engineering”, by National Education Leadership, Vijayavani 2015.
AeSI – Aero Club - Student Chapter
Department Of Aeronautical Engineering, started AeSI – Aero Club-Student Chapter. The program was inaugurated by Shri V Balakrishnan, Vice Chairman, AeSI, CEO, MTAL & Former Executive Director, HAL. The program was conducted on 21ST October 2016.
Society of Automotive Engineers global level event participated by DSCE team at California, USA
DSCE-UAV ’Team ARCIS’ Excelled In SAE Event at USA
The team ARCIS of Dayananda sagar college of Engg designed and built the unconventional Uninhabited Air Vehicle(UAV) and participated in a global level aero modelling flying competitions ‘SAE Aero design west 2015’, organized by SAE and supported by Aerospace industries; Lockheed martin, Boeing, Raytheon and Northrop Grumman held at California, USA.
About 75 teams from all over the world took part in the event, which also includes the teams from India. The team ARCIS of DSCE won First place from Indian teams and 10th place worldwide.
The team had taken an uphill task of designing and fabricating a twin -boom inverted- U tail with wing span of eight feet, Remote Controlled (RC) Uninhabited Air Vehicle (UAV).
Faculty Advisor Dr. A. Arokkiaswamy, HOD of Aeronautical Engg, Dept, and Dr.Girish V. A, HoD of ECE dept. gave full technical support and guidance throughout the project.
The team ARCIS acknowledges and thank the College and the Management for their full support and encouragement.

Students Participation and Achievement
- Mr.Preetham Kumar and Ms.Sanikabirthi of 2012-2016 batch were felicitated for best design in RC aircraft design and fabrication organised by AEROTTRIX on 16th July 2014 at NHCE Bangalore.
- Ms.Sanika Birthi of 2012-2016 batch received best performer award in QUADCOPTER workshop organized by ROBOVERSITY between 24th to 30 July 2014 at NHCE Bangalore
- A team of six students represented DSCE for the SAE Aero Design West 2015 held at USA, California during 24th-26th April 2015, The DSCE team has constructed the radio controlled airplane and flown in the event in which 75 teams all over the globe participated, The DSCE team proved their talent and emerged by seeking 1st position among the teams participated from India and 10th position among the team participated all over the world.
