    The graduates will be able to

    • Apply the knowledge of basic science and engineering principles to identify, formulate and analyze Chemical engineering and allied industrial problems as a successful employee/employer. 
    • Design solutions for engineering problems and processes with due consideration for transport operations, control systems, environmental concern, safety and waste minimization by appropriate technology and process simulation tools. 
    • Function effectively as an individual, researcher and as a member or leader in multidisciplinary settings of engineering community and society

From the HOD's Desk:

Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the old Departments in DSCE, started in year 1982 with 30 intake, increased to 60 in 2007. Also M.Tech was started in the same year.
Department is accredited twice by NBA, once for 5 years. Department is recognized research center under VTU to pursue M.Sc. (Engg by Res) and PhD. It has well established laboratories.
Department has well qualified both, experienced and young faculty who have graduated from reputed institutions like NITK. The faculty as well as students take pride themselves in continually evolving in to well-rounded personalities.

Parents Meet 2019

Parents meet was organized in the department of Chemical Engineering on 12th October 2019. The meet provided the platform for parents to know the achievements of the department, teaching learning process, placement activities, autonomous rules & regulations and also to interact with the faculty to know the progress of their wards.

Chemical Engineering Association, ChEA

A student centric activities body, Chemical Engineering Association, ChEA was formed with Dr. B R Veena as the President, Mr. Karthik and Ms. Sriamsha of final year Chemical Engineering, as Vice presidents, was inaugurated on 14.10.2019

Invited talk on “Advanced Technologies in Refineries and Petrochemicals”

Invited talk on “Advanced Technologies in Refineries and Petrochemicals” by Mr. Akbar Ali, Consultant, Skill Tech Process Engineering. The speaker explained on the process design and development aspects on dehydration of propane using fixed bed catalytic reactor to second, third and final year students of Chemical Engineering.

Faculty Development Programme.

A 5 day Faculty Development Programme on Food and Fermentation Engineering was organized by the department of Chemical Engineering jointly with department of Biotechnology from 5th August to 9th August 2019.

Project Exhibition “Open Day”.

Project Exhibition “Open Day” was organized on 8th May 2019 for Final year students. Mr. Madhu H N , Founder and Director, Novo Spiro Foods Pvt. Ltd was invited as the Judge for the event.

Department News Letter – Catalica 2019

The department releases an annual newsletter every year highlighting the various activates conducted in the department and the achievements of the faculty and the students. Catalica 2019 was released at the inauguration of Chemovation 2019.

Chemovation 2019

Chemovation 2019, a national level student symposium themed on Geo Jagruthi was organized in association with Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Bangalore regional center by Department of Chemical Engineering, DSCE on 3rd & 4th May 2019.
