From the HOD's Desk:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, was started in the year 1979. Our department offers undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering with the present intake of 180 students and 36 students respectively. Both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students are getting ranks consistently at the University Level and the Department has the excellent Placement record with the students getting placed in reputed core industries as well as IT sectors. Our students have won awards at various technical events, conferences and symposiums held at prestigious institutions. The Department has dedicated and experienced faculty team with more than twelve PhDs, driving the department towards excellence in academics as well as R & D activities.

All India Seminar on MATLAB for Mechanical Engineers

A two day All India seminar on MATLAB for Mechanical Engineers was organized The Institution of Engineers (IEI), Karnataka State centre jointly with Mathworks India Pvt. Ltd. and by the department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE on 27th & 28th February 2020 at AV auditorium, DSCE campus. More than 90 participants across Karnataka and few parts of South India had participated which included Faculties, Students and Research scholars.

Workshop on e - Mobility & Charging Infrastructure

Dr.M.R.Kamesh, Dr.V.R.Srinivasan and Prof.Govindaraju.H attended the Workshop & Exhibition on “e - Mobility & Charging Infrastructure” organized by Laghu Udyog Bharati-Karnataka(LUB-K) in association with National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) held at Bharth Scouts and Guides Auditorium, Palace Road, Bangalore on 27-02-2020.

Consultancy work- Industrial project:

As per the MOU with DSCE, Machenn Innovations Coimbatore provided the consultancy industrial project. The 3D printed components were Index Finger Implant and Flexible Material Matrix. The material used to print the components was PLA (polymer) and accuracy was maintained up to 20µ. The project was undertaken and executed by Prof. Madhusudan M. at 3D printing lab, Dept of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE. The final printed components were delivered the clients on 24th February 2020.

One Day Program on Fusion 360 Academy – India

Prof. Krantikumar and Dr.R Keshevamurty, Prof & Head, Departmaent of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE and Dr. H. N. Suresh, Prof & Head, Departmaent of Automobile Engineering, DSCE had attended “One Day Program on Fusion 360 Academy - India” was held on, 22nd February 2020 which was organized by AUTODESK in Association Fusion 360 Academy at Radisson Blu, Bangalore. The main objective of “Fusion 360 Academy” was to bring radical changes in the way things are designed, made, and used.


A student team, Venkat Sai, Deepak Bellikatti, Radhika Nigam, Aditya SC, Nikhil Vajramatti and MAlav Thacker, of Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE had participated in a National level Techno-Cultural fest, INCRIDEA-2020 of NMAM Institute of Technology, Mangalore from 14th – 17th February 2020. The fest provided the exhibition of utmost creativity and has managed to attract students from professional colleges all over the country. Our students have won 1st place in Robo Sumo and secured 2nd place Robo Soccer.

FDP on Analytical Techniques for applied Research

Prof. Rajashekar Hosalli, Department of Mechanical Engineering had participated in a one week Faculty Development Program, an interdisciplinary program sponsored by AICTE-QIP, on “Analytical Techniques for applied Research” was organized by Shri Guru Gobinda Singhji Institute of Engineering & Technology ,Vishnu puri ,Nanded ,Maharashtra from 16-20th February 2020.

One day tutorial on “Fiber Reinforced Plastics”- Materials, Technology & Products.

Prof. Munawar Ulla Shariff and Prof. Nithesh Bhaskar, Department of Mechanical Engineering, DSCE had attended a book release and one day tutorial on “Fiber Reinforced Plastics”- Materials, Technology & Products was organized by Jain Universiy Press, Bengaluru on 2nd arch 2020.

An Interaction with Intech Additive Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

A meeting with representatives from Intech Additive Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Was held at Board room, DSCE. The objective of the interaction was to explore the possibilities to have a MOU between DSI and Intech Additive Solutions for carrying out joint research programmers.

Prof. Karthik M.A. Department of Mechanical Engineering had participated in the program.

A three day workshop on Six Sigma – Green Belt Program

Six Sigma strategies seek to improve the quality of the output of a process by identifying and removing the causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods, mainly empirical, statistical methods, and creates a special infrastructure of people within the organization who are experts in these methods.
