In DSCE, along with the regular curriculum, innovation and application based learning is widely encouraged. As a part of this approach towards learning, the department of chemistry along with the mechanical department had arranged a seminar in which a great Indian crystallographer and a pioneer in crystallography delivered an innovative talk on the topic entitled “Why Science?”. This talk was mainly arranged to inspire the young minds of DSCE mainly comprising the 1st year engineering students as participants.

Dr. Goutam. R. Desiraju is a well renowned Indian chemist specialized in the field of crystallography. He has contributed substantially to the themes of crystal engineering and weak hydrogen bonding. He is one among the most highly cited Indian scientists and has been honored with several prestigious awards including TWAS prize in Chemistry.

The seminar began at 10.30am on March 13, 2017. The program started with an introductory speech and then the Principal, Vice-Principal other professors honored the chief guest. It was a fascinating experience for the presence of such great personality. The next part was the talk by Prof. Desiraju.
