The seminar started by introducing about concepts of Software Engineering. What is Software Engineering is about.The GOAL of Software Engineering is to produce “HIGH (Good) quality software at LOW cost”. Types of Software product are Generic products Stand-alone systems that are marketed and sold to any customer who wishes to buy them. Examples – PC software such as editing, graphics programs, project management tools; CAD software; software for specific markets such as appointments systems for dentists.

Customized (BESPOKE)products Software that is commissioned by a specific customer to meet their own needs. Examples – embedded control systems, air traffic control software, traffic monitoring systems.

Technical Talk by ZenRays Technologies:

A Technical Talk was organized by Dept of Information Science and Engineering on 23rd August, 2016 at C.D Sagar Auditorium in coordination with Placement Cell, DSCE. A team of four members headed by Mr.Sumit Kohli were invited from ZenRays Technologies as the core team to address the 5th Semester students.

ZenRays Technology, an organization powered by IITians and Industry Experts provides a technical forum with placement guidance and hands-on workshops for the participants. Mr. Sumit Kohli gave an introduction to the latest existing technologies, and highlighted the importance of these technologies in developing advanced applications. He emphasized that Java is no more the only best technology in use in the current days. A brief insight was provided on Python, Angular JS, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, BootStrap and many more.

Several videos were shown to the students as a part of the talk, and the session also included a hands-on development of the cloud server which enabled the students to have live experience of working with clouds. The session was taken over by Mr. Ankit who provided the complete walk through required for the students there by guiding them through the latest technologies.

In continuation with the technical talk, the entire team of ZenRays has come up with the proposal of One-day workshop which will be completely hands-on based on HTML-5 and Angular JS.

Guest Lecture on ‘Improving TCP performance in Networks’:

Department of Information science and engineering organized one-day guest lecture on ‘Improving TCP performance in Networks’ for the students of 6th semester. The guest speaker was Prasanna Kavi, Technical leader in the CISCO systems, India.

The event started with a welcome speech by Rajeshwari. J, Associate Professor followed by the speaker introducing himself to the students and started the technical session. The duration of technical session was for 2 hours.
