    INDUSTRY - ACADEMIC INTERACTION:

    Basic Healthcare Training to Siemens employees was jointly organized by Department of Medical Electronics and Centre for Advanced Healthcare, Dayananda Sagar University from 3rd September to 7th September 2018.

     

    FDP ON INTERNET OF THINGS AND ITS APPLICATIONS:

    Six days faculty development programme on “Internet of Things and its Applications” was jointly organised by departments of Medical Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering from 4thAugust – 09th August 2018. A wide range of topics were covered in the field of IoT from eminent speakers from the industry and academia.

  • EVENTS 2017 – 18:

    Two day workshop on Artificial Intelligence :

    A two-day "workshop on Artificial Intelligence" was organized by the department of Medical Electronics on 26th and 27th of October, 2017 in association with Zeke Labs, Bengaluru. The workshop focussed on the basics of Python programming, machine learning and hands on experience in image recognition, recommendation systems and natural language processing.

     

    Hackathon on IOT system for rural healthcare

    A "Hackathon on IOT system for rural healthcare" was jointly organized by the departments of CSE, ECE, Medical Electronics and Centre for Advanced Healthcare, DSU on 13.11.2017. The participants were expected to design solutions for rural healthcare problems using the sensors provided. Mr.Vinayak and team of 3rd year, Medical Electronics won the first place in the Hackathon.

     

    Participation in Poster presentation contest:

    Students of the department of Medical Electronics participated in a poster presentation contest "TechnoAyurveda" based on conceptual designs of various aspects of Ayurveda at "Ayurveda Parva", A National festival on health awareness through Ayurveda organized by Ministry of AYUSH and All India Ayurveda Congress in association with Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Sciences and Research Hospital, Bangalore and Sri SriTattva held on 16.2.2018. The students designed posters depicting possible engineering interventions for problems in diagnosis and therapy using Ayurveda.

     

    Industrial visit to Wipro GE Healthcare :

    An industrial visit to Wipro GE Healthcare, JFWTC Campus was organized for the final year students of Medical Electronics followed by a one week "Biomedical training program" at GE Healthcare. Students underwent a practical training course on patient monitors, ventilators and ultrasound imaging along with group activities for enhancing leadership skills.

     

    Expert Lecture on Graph signal processing

    Prof. K. R. Ramakrishnan, Professor (Retd.), Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, delivered an expert lecture on 'Graph Signal Processing' at the department of Medical Electronics on 28.3.2018.

     

    ESpectro-2k18

    The student chapter of Instrument Society of India (ISOI) at the department of Medical Electronics, DSCE had organized a technical fest ESpectro-2k18 at the department on 21.4.2018. Different events like hackathon, poster presentation, group discussion and technical rangoli were organized during the fest which witnessed a very active participation from the students.

     

    Project Exhibition

    The department of Medical electronics had organized an exhibition of the 8th semester students' projects in May 2018. The inauguration and evaluation of the projects were done by Mr.SrivathsaMalavalli, Co-Founder & Director, Improvalue consulting and Prof. Sandhya, Dept. of E&C, DSIT.

     

    Winner of Jaycee Top ten Dance competition

    Ms.SahanaSundarRaman, student of 2nd year of the department of Medical Electronics headed the "NatyabhinayaSagari" dance team of DSCE at Jaycee TOP TEN Dance competition in January 2018 on account of National Youth Month 2018. The team won the 1st place involving a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and trophy.

     

    Winners of State Level project exhibition 'SRISHTI 2018'

    Students of 8th semester of the department of Medical Electronics participated in the State Level Engineering Students Project Exhibition & competition, 'SRISHTI 2018', organized by ABVP, Karnataka in May 2018. Two projects, "Emergency Oxygen Generator" and "Resonare - An affordable hearing device incorporating speech therapy", secured 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

    Inauguration

    A project exhibition was held on 30.5.2017 at the Department of Medical Electronics as part of the DSCE open day where the final year undergraduate students showcased their projects. Guests from healthcare industry and academicians were invited to evaluate the best projects of the department.

    Mr. Shankar Yaragoppa - Director and CEO, YaraGo Software Private Limited, Bengaluru. Dr. Rajashekar. J. S - Associate Professor, Dept. of IT, DSCE, Bengaluru.

    The evaluators provided their valuable suggestions about the projects along with evaluating them. They also gave their insight about how the projects can be continued further to benefit the society.

    Valedictory

    The valedictory and award presentation ceremony was organized at the department. The head of the department Dr. M. S. Nagananda presided over the ceremony. Mr. Shankar Yaragoppa and Dr.Rajashekar presented the awards to the students. Every student was also given a participation certificate by the Head of the department and Dr. D. NarayanaDutt, Professor, Department of Medical Electronics, DSCE. Mr. Shankar, in his speech, reviewed the projects and congratulated the students and their guides for initiating socially relevant and innovative projects. He also stressed upon the importance of Medical Electronics engineers for the society and invited the students of the department to collaborate with YaraGo software private Limited to deliver healthcare solutions to the society. Dr.Rajashekar called upon the students of the department of Medical Electronics to work with a vision and mission for contributing sustainable healthcare solutions for the betterment of the society. Dr.NarayanaDutt provided his critical reviews about the projects and the need to convert the projects into proof of concepts and marketable products. Dr.Nagananda congratulated the students for delivering innovative projects and their guides for constantly mentoring the students throughout the course of the project. Few students voiced their feedback about the project exhibition and thanked the Principal, Management of DSI and the Department for providing them a chance to showcase their projects.

    DATE: 26th to 28th May, 2017.

    Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru with the support of its Patrons, organized Second National Conference titled “Sustainable Emerging Intelligent TechnologiesSEITCON-2017 from 26th to 28th May, 2017. The Conference was well attended by eminent researchers, academicians, faculty members and students from reputed technical and educational institutions from different parts of the country and representatives of governmental bodies and industry.

    The conference was inaugurated at Dr. D. Premachandra Sagar Auditorium, Centre for Performing Arts, DSCE, Bengaluru in the presence of esteemed guests and delegates. The Chief Guest for the inaugural event was Dr. D. C. Pande, Director (Technology), LRDE, Bengaluru and the Keynote Speaker was Dr. C. P. Ravikumar, Technical Director, Texas Instruments, Bengaluru. The event was presided over by Dr. C. P. S. Prakash, Principal, DSCE, Bengaluru.

    WORKSHOP ON COMPUTER PROGRAMMING USING PYTHON - A REPORT:

    DATE: 21.3.2017.

    A two days workshop on computer programming using Python was organized by the Department of Medical Electronics, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bengaluru on 20th - 21st March 2017.

    The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. C. P. S. Prakash, Principal, DSCE, Dr. H. Ramakrishna, Vice Principal, DSCE, Dr. A. R. Aswatha, Dean, DSCE and Prof. Sreenivasa Setty, Associate Professor, Department of ISE, Don Bosco Institute of Technology, who was invited to conduct the workshop. The program was organized for the Undergraduate students under the aegis of the student chapter - Instrument Society of India, Department of Medical Electronics, DSCE. Dr. Prakash spoke about the advantages of learning computer programming languages and advised the students to utilize the opportunity provided by the institution to develop innovative applications for healthcare. Dr. D. R. Ramesh Babu, Vice Principal, DSCE, issued the certificates to the participants during the valedictory ceremony and stressed upon the importance and wide the arena of avenues where Python and other open source softwares that can be used for healthcare solutions. Dr. M. S. Nagananda, Professor of Medical Electronics thanked the institution for its continued support in all the activities and congratulated the students for their active participation.

  • TECHNO-CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA AND ISOI

    TECHNO-CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA AND INAUGURATION OF STUDENT CHAPTER OF INSTRUMENT SOCIETY OF INDIA (ISOI):

    DATE: 01-10-2016.

    The formation of student chapter is the harbinger of collective growth of Medical Electronics Students under the banner of ISOI. The Vice President of ISOI, Dr. K. Rajan, graced the event with his presence. The event was also graced by the Principal of DSCE, Dr. C.P.S Prakash along with the faculty and students of Medical Electronics headed by, Dr. M. S. Nagananda. Dr. Rajan spoke of the opportunities that the students should tap into, under ISOI such as, the journals and various workshops organized. The Principal then addressed the audience about how such student chapters are crucial in forming the stepping stones to steps to success. He also encouraged to conduct more such events in the near future from Department. The organizing committee celebrated the true spirit of nature by offering tulsi plants as a token of appreciation to the eminent guests.

  • ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP:

    ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP:

    DATE: 31-08-2016 to 02-09-2016.

    IEDC had conducted an Entrepreneurship Awareness camp to the students of the Medical Electronics on 31st August, 1st Sep and 21st Sep 2016. This camp was sponsored by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB).

    The Camp was inaugurated by Mr. Sachin Anchan (Co-Founder, Geeksynergy Technologies) who is also an alumnus of the Department of Medical Electronics. Entrepreneurs and Mentors like Mr. Aman Bajaj, Ms. Suma Vishwanath, Dr. Jagadish Chaturvedi, Prof. Ravindra Babu and Dr. Lakshmi Jagannathan shared their experiences about start-ups, creating business ideas, creating value propositions and translating them into successful products. An industry visit to Inaccel Technologies was also organized at the end of the camp.

    SEMINAR CONDUCTED BY AECC GLOBAL:

    DATE: 19-08-2016.

    A seminar was conducted by AECC Global on 19.8.2016 at the Department of Medical Electronics, DSCE to enlighten the students about the support available from the company for students interested in pursuing higher education abroad. AECC Global is an education and migration agency that guides students in fulfilling their foreign education and immigration dreams.

    Mrs. Nandini and Mr. Prasad represented AECC Global. Mrs. Nandini spoke about various opportunities available for students and the qualifying exams that the students have to clear in order to get admitted into reputed universities. Prof. S. Hema Priyadarshini and Prof. Sushrutha Bharadwaj. M coordinated the event.

    A two day training program on project based learning using Arduino micro-controller was organized by the Department of Medical Electronics, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bengaluru in association with Tenet Technetronics, Bengaluru. The training program was inaugurated by Dr. C. P. S. Prakash, Principal, DSCE and Mr. Umashankar Shetty, Manager, Training and Services, Tenet Technetronics. The program was organized for the 3rd and 4th year students of Engineering under the aegis of the student chapter - Instrument Society of India, Medical Electronics, DSCE. Mr. Umashankar Sheety spoke about the purpose and outcomes of the training program. Dr. C P SPrakash advised the students to utilize the opportunity provided by the institution and come up with innovative ideas for healthcare solutions. Dr. M. S. Nagananda, Professor of Medical Electronics thanked the institution for its continued support in all the activities and congratulated the students for their active participation.
