IEEE activities - Brief History
IEEE DSCE student branch was started on 21st Sept 2007 by Dr. P. Kulkarni, Dr. M. J Shanti Prasad, Dr. Kiran Gupta and Dr. A Sreenivasan and with aim of bringing awareness and to bring DSI under the international IEEE professional body umbrella. This has enhanced technical standards and global networking for engineering students. With the inspiration from international events to encourage girl student and encouragement received from Bangalore section, Women-In-Engineering was also started and inaugurated on 22nd May 2010.
IEEE DSCE student branch has about six society chapters in the campus - Power Electronics Society (PES), ITC and Robotics & Artificial Intelligence Society (RAI) and Dept of ECE nutures three society chapters. They are:
- Circuits and Systems Society, Dr Kiran A Gupta is faculty advisor
- Signal Processing, Deepa N P is Faculty advisor
- Council for Electronic Design Automation, Vimala P is faculty advisor.
These societies enhance the technical activities in other domains and branches of engineering in the campus. The branch received the best student branch award on Feb 2010 for the year 2009 amongst 45 Engineering colleges in Karnataka. Conducted major international events such as Asia Pacific GOLD Congress and coordinated the National Conference NEC-2009. The IEEE student branch completed 17 years in the year 2024. A large number of activities such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures, FDPs, student symposiums, technical talks, international conferences, research programs, quiz programs, poster presentation, paper presentations, etc. were conducted during the 17 years of tenure of the IEEE student branch as a part of its activities in the ECE department. Also, as technical partners IEEE DSCE student branch has been part of IEEE conference ICIMIA, being conduted every trimester.
