Every year DSCE library is celebrating Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s birthaday as LIBRARIAN’S DAY. In this occasion a well-known personality in the field of Library and Information science is being honored every year. During this time many more activities like quiz competitions etc. are also conducted.

The Library and Information Centre of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore organized two days National conference on “Electronic Resource Management and Research support services in Academic libraries” on 11th and 12th December 2015. Dr.Youd Vir singh, Head of the research division, Association of Indian universities New Delhi has inaugurated the conference as a Chief Guest, Dr.S.C Sharma, Provost DSU, Director DSCE & DSATM presided over the function and Principal DSCE, Dr.CPS Prakash graced the function. Dayananda Sagar Institutions Felicitated Dr.Youd Vir Singh in consideration of his yeomen services in the field of Library Science. Dr. Youd Vir singh released the conference proceedings and gave a talk on “use of social media in libraries”. In the keynote address he highly appreciated that DSI reached the heights of its excellence in education.
Two day National Conference divided in to four technical sessions. First session Invited speaker Dr.Rajendra Babu H, Asst. Prof. Dept. of studies and research in library and information science Tumkur University, Tumkur delivered his talk on “Need driven acquisition in the era of shrinking Library and information services and resources”. Second session Invited speaker Dr.Vinayak Bankapur, Chairman and associate professor, Library and information science Rani Chennamma University, Belgavi, gave the talk on “E-resources for learning and research”. Third session invited speaker Prof.Anand T Byrappa, Global leader, Knowledge centre, GE, Bangalore gave talk on “30 most impressive universities business libraries in the USA”. Invited speaker for the fourth session was Dr.Francis Jayakanth IIM Bangalore. He gave talk on “E-resources development and best practices for its usage”.

Day two evening Dr.Sistla Rama Devi Pani Editor of the phenomenal journal Indian higher education-University News, Association of Indian Universities ,New Delhi ,was the chief guest for the valedictory function , Dr.S.C Sharma ,Provost DSU, Director DSCE & DSATM presided over the function and Principal DSCE,Dr.CPS Prakash graced the function. DSI Felicitated Dr. Sistla Rama Devi Pani in recognition of her contribution to the area of education. In her talk she mentioned the challenges of the librarians in the modern digital era and also appreciated Dayananda Sagar Institutions for giving the platform to the library science professionals to enrich their knowledge and sharing their research results face to face.
Dr.Johnson C David, Chief Librarian and organizing secretary of the conference delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the event.
Workshop on “E-Learning initiative and Digitization of the Library”
Library and Information centre organized one day workshop on “E-Learning initiative and Digitization of the Library” on 14th November 2015. Dr.T D Kemparaju, Registrar, Mangalore University has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest/Keynote speaker. Dr.S.C.Sharma , Provost DSU/Director DSATM&DSCE and Dr.C P S Prakash, Principal DSCE graced the function. Dr.T D Kemparaju highly appreciated the standard of DSI and congratulated the management for the success. In his keynote address he mentioned the role of the modern librarian in the digital era. He suggested all the librarians to keep update and be able to give required service to the library users.
Dr.IRN Gouder, visiting professor and Library advisory Bangalore university was the resource person of the day. In his talk he explained the importance of E-learning and digitization of the library which will necessary to the modern world.
Chief Librarian Dr.J.C.David delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the event.
